The End is Here. While my debut novel is about the end of the world what I meant is that my journey towards publication has reached an end. As of January 14, 2014 I no longer sought to have a book published, but accomplished my goal with the release of The Gathering: End’s Beginning.
That date also marked the beginning of the next chapter of my own personal story. My adventures as an author will be posted on the News and Views page. That might include anything from pictures and anecdotes about my most recent book signing to asking all of you what you think about an upcoming story. When you stop to think about it the News and Views page is really about me and you. Hop on over to The Gathering page and you'll find articles related to the novels in The Gathering series. One week I might offer suggestions on emergency preparedess and the next week you could find a lively discussion about the end of the world. If I'm not covering a topic that you're interested in, please let me know. The Writing page is there for those of you interested in the craft of writing. Some of the material you see there will be updated posts from my writing blog, some of it will be taken from my workshops, and you can expect a few original articles as I move forward. That's it. Except to welcome you to my website. Thanks for stopping in. |
My wife calls me the Storyman because I turn just about anything into a story.

The Gathering: End's Beginning
There they were, on the brink of the next era of human history. Prophets had fore-told of this time for thousands of years. But of all the things that John could say about their current endeavor and the events that would soon come to pass, nothing came to mind . . . except fear.
John Williams knows conditions in the United States are getting worse, but when his oldest son, Robert, comes home early from his mission and John receives a special Church calling, suddenly everything comes into perspective--the Second Coming is closer than he ever thought possible.
John travels to the middle of nowhere to build Camp Valiant, a future gathering place for Latter-day Saints, leaving Robert to protect the family from the escalating violence and crime in their town. And as rumors swirl throughout the country that those sworn to protect the United States may, in fact, be the ones tearing it apart, Secretary of State Calvin McCord decides to uncover the truth, no matter the consequences.
Compelling characters and political intrigue allow The Gathering to paint a thrilling yet realistic view of the Second Coming's beginning. As the threads of society begin to unravel around them, the Williams family must find a way to tie their faith together as they prepare for this most glorious event.
"Author Randy Lindsay's debut novel will keep you flipping pages until the very end--highly recommended."
-Tristi Pinkston, editor and author of Agent in Old Lace
"A powerful story. There should be a copy of this book in every Latter-day Saint home. Five stars on all accounts."
- Chas Hathaway, author of Scripture Study Made Awesome
"Lindsay has created a novel that will not only entertain, but will also leave you with something to think about long after the story is over."
- Jenny Proctor, author of The House at Rose Creek
"If you are fascinated by portents of things that are surely to come, then The Gathering . . . is sure to leave you satisfied, yet wanting more."
- Shirley Bahlmann, author of the popular "Odds" true pioneer story series

Call to Arms: Nations Fall
As soon as he rounded the corner of the warehouse, he
saw them--the National Guard, to be exact. Soldiers
quickly exited the heavy vehicles and took up positions in front of the gate, guns pointed at the Saints.
The world is descending into chaos. Each member of the Williams family--along with all the other Saints--must decide whether to heed the call to gather.
Set in the near future, this tense novel dives into the wide-sweeping political, social, and religious drama of a family caught between life as it's always been and a new beginning in Zion.
"Call to Arms will make you grateful for three things: Zion, our liberty, and that there's still time to fight for both."
- R. C. Hancock, author of An Uncommon Blue
"Call to Arms . . . steps up the tension and deepens the drama."
- Stephen J. Stirling, author of Shedding Light on the Dark Side and Persona Non Grata
"Call to Arms thrusts you into a world of increasing chaos in an . . . intriguing way."
- Brock Booher, author of Healing Stone and The Charity Chip

Sergeant Robert Williams returns from the raging war in Europe still reeling from the wounds he received in Italy. He’s assigned to active duty in Georgia, just a day before the United States is invaded on three fronts. The American troops suffer staggering losses. To make matters worse, a wave of desertions leaves the remaining U.S. military forces short of resources and in a desperate fight to defend the country.
While Robert battles the Russian forces on the East Coast, his girlfriend Sierra faces the brutal occupation of California by the Chinese Army. For the citizens of Los Angeles this is a war of survival as they struggle to feed themselves and stay clear of the violent struggles to control the city.
In addition to the Russian, Chinese, and South American Coalition armies, U.S. President Calvin McCord faces a fourth and even more destructive force—the American political system. Political infighting threatens to rip the country apart from within, placing the president in a desperate battle to lead the tattered remnants of the United States through an era of devastation.
Set in the near-future, The Devastation: America Crumbles follows the lives of an ordinary family during the anarchy of the apocalypse.

Set in the near-future, The Return – Part 1: Fall of Man follows the lives of good people from an ordinary family as they face the devastation of the apocalypse.
Robert still had half the length of the country to travel, before he reached Sierra. With the turmoil gripping the world he worried she might not be alive by the time he reached California. Not too long ago, Robert could have simply taken a two-day bus ride to reach her. but now, gangs, pockets of civil unrest, and the Nationalist government itself stood in the way of him safely finding the woman he loved and asking her to marry him. It seemed that every community he traveled through needed his help . . . and Heavenly Father wanted him to do exactly that.
Sierra struggles to survive. Life in California was under new management and the government wasn't interested in helping the people. Caught between an evil government, the increasing power of local street gangs, and a resistance movement that has claimed the lives of her father and one of her brothers, she finds it increasingly more difficult to remain neutral. No matter what she does . . . she's bound to die.
John is once again far from his family, leading a wagon train east. This band of modern-day pioneers plan to build New Jerusalem in anticipation of the Second Coming. But being well-prepared makes them a target for bands of ex-military, bandits, and starving civilians. Is the dream of a utopian city in which Christ will dwell too good of a thing to be true?
Set in the near-future, The Return - Part 2: Millennial Dawn is the final book in The Gathering series, which follows the lives of good people from an ordinary family as they face the devastation of the apocalypse.
