When I first started this website, my intention was to provide the latest news about my writing career, list my event schedule, and display my books. A lot has happened since then. I have been invited to teach dozens of workshops at the local libraries, I've taught several classes at one of the local writing conferences, and I have even put together a small, one-day writing event with my author friends.
What these opportunities have taught me is that I love to discuss the art of writing and enjoy sharing what I know with other writers. That has led me to dedicate a portion of my website to regular features on writing. Whether you are interested in small, easily-digestible bits of advice; writing challenges to help jumpstart your creativity; or story prompts to give you a boost on your next story idea, I hope you will find something useful and fun.
In addition to the resources here, you can also visit the YouTube show I present with my good friends; Brock Booher, Janette Rallison, and Adrienne Quintana.
So You Think You Can Write is our YouTube show. I think of it as a cross between American Idol (for writers) and The Gong Show. The panel critiques the first page of a story that's been submitted to us and we determine if it's ready to send in to an agent or editor. Writers gain valuable feedback and we get to play with our buzzers.
