Love Is In The Air

2/5/2015

A John Paul Young song from the 70s suggests that love is in the air. If that is true then February must reek of fear. Not that love itself creates fear, but the expectation of having to properly express that emotion on Valentine’s Day is certainly enough to cause otherwise stalwart men to run at full speed toward their man caves.

While I could do an entire article on the perils associated with your wife telling you that she doesn’t really care about celebrating Valentine’s Day, what I planned to discuss is the Romance Panel that I am hosting on Saturday.

I hear you out there. I hear you asking yourselves why I’m doing a panel on romance writing. The easy answer is because someone asked me to put together a panel of authors familiar with the language of love. There is no need for you to fear that I’ve gone over to the pink side, or whatever color is associated with romance writing.

Of course, that isn’t the only reason I put the event together. Moderating the panel gives me practice speaking in public. With four other authors up front—all better looking than myself—I don’t have to worry about all eyes being on me. Then there is the benefit of spending time with four wonderful people who have a wealth of knowledge from which I can benefit.

This seems like as good a point as any to introduce the ladies who will be sitting on the panel.

Janette Rallison / C J Hill – In addition to being a friend of mine Janette is an accomplished author with over 23 books published. She writes romantic comedies:
Revenge of the Cheerleaders, My Unfair Godmother; teen romance: Blue Eyes, Playing the Field, and My Double Life; and then there are her Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels with plenty of romantic energy: Slayers and Erasing Time.

Connie Flynn – I had the opportunity to take writing classes from Connie when I attended
Phoenix College. What a thrill it is to be able to attend an event with her as a fellow author. Connie is versatile and writes romantic fantasy: Shadow on the Moon, Dragon Hour, and Shadow of the Wolf; as well as mysteries: Know When to Run, and Murder at Toadstool Café.

Kelly Oram – Has an impressive number of books under her belt. They include:
Serial Hottie, V is for Virgin, the Jamie Baker series, and the Supernaturals series.

Donna Hatch – Also has an impressive number of books to her credit. They include: Emma’s Dilemna, Mistletoe Magic, The Reluctant Bride, and the Rogue Heart series.

Come on out on Saturday, February 7th from 12:15 to 1:45 and find out what these authors have to say about writing romance. And if you really want to see me squirm go ahead and ask me a few questions about romance.

    You and Me

Let's make this about you and me. I'll go ahead and write some articles and then you jump right in and share your thoughts on the matter. How does that sound?
